"Sanpatsu" will be screened at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 2022.

At Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 2022, the biggest international film festival dedicated to short films, "Sanpatsu" which we were involved in producing has been selected for the International Competition to be screened at the festival held January 28 to February 5, 2022.

"Sanpatus" was produced as a part of [c-project] which is composed of Masahiko Sato, a professor of Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts, and alumnus of Masahiko Sato Laboratory. We have produced this short film following "Father Returns" (2016).

It was very competitive to be nominated as the official selection because over 6,200 films were submitted into the international competition this year and 77 films among them were selected. Also "Sanpatsu" is the only film nominated from Japan.

＜SYNOPSIS＞

There is a hair salon on the grounds of a women’s prison.
As part of their job training, inmates cut the hairs of regular customers.
This story begins when a boy, who looks out of place, visits the salon.
Under the watchful eyes of the prison officers, haircutting is the only act allowed between the hairdresser and the boy. Despite this, the time spent together is special to them both.
